Chester County Hospital To Provide Free, Hands-Only CPR and AED Training
Chester County Hospital recently partnered with Penn Medicine’s Center for Resuscitation Science Mobile CPR Project to boost the confidence of Coatesville area residents in administering CPR.
To help reduce their hesitation in life-saving situations, two training sessions were conducted at Gateway Church in Parkesburg.
Participants learned how to recognize a cardiac arrest, perform bystander CPR, and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). The event was facilitated by Chester County Hospital employees, and the Mobile CPR Project, along with community volunteers, and a nursing student from West Chester University. In all, fifty-five community members were trained.
Keystone Valley Fire Department and EMS staff were also on hand to answer questions about emergency medical services. Among the trainees were members of Gateway Church and Episcopal Church of the Trinity.
According to Jonny Damon of the Gateway Church Strategic Leadership Team, the training was invaluable.
“The facilitators gave us the tools we needed to feel more confident in our day-to-day operations. And they gave our volunteers the information they needed to make quick decisions,” he said.
Those interested in learning CPR can register to join a free, in-person Hands-Only CPR + AED Training on Aug. 21 at 6:00 PM.
