Norman Regional donates defibrillator after coach survives cardiac arrest

The Norman Regional Health Foundation (NRHF) has donated a defibrillator to the Blanchard Little League Association after a coach went into cardiac arrest.

Officials say in 2023, Bobby Jackson was coaching his granddaughter’s Little League team when he collapsed and went into cardiac arrest. Fortunately, two firefighters were in attendance and jumped in to help.

They gave give him CPR until an ambulance arrived. That’s when a defibrillator was used to help Jackson before he was taken to Norman Regional Hospital.

According to NRHF, the foundation donated an Automated External Defibrillator, or AED. The CDC says around 9 in 10 people who have cardiac arrest outside of a hospital die.

“The NRHF wants to make sure as many Oklahomans have access to life-saving measures such as defibrillators and CPR before arriving to the hospital.” said the Norman Regional Health System.

The President of the Blanchard Little League Association accepted the AED from NRHF on behalf of the association on Thursday, September 19.
