Welcome to Saving American Hearts EMT IV Certification Course!
The Emergency Medical Technician IV and Medication Course is offered for EMT Basic's holding a valid EMT Basic certification in the State of Colorado. The course is approximately 36 hours designed to educate EMTs in the skills of intravenous therapy, fluid resuscitation, and the administration of medications on the scene of a medical trauma or emergency. Medication administration is allowed for only those medications within the Colorado Chapter 2 Formulary.
The cost of this course is $375 and includes all required materials and supplies.

Each item on the checklist must be complete before you will be accepted into the course. The items on the checklist are mandatory requirements set forth by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Emergency Medical and Trauma Services Branch and are not negotiable.
Incomplete checklists will be returned and may result in your being dropped from the class to allow another student the seat.
Payment is required 48 hours before the first day of class, but is not required to hold your seat in class.
EMTs will be required to present a valid Colorado EMT certification
Proof of Professional Liability Insurance
Proof of COVID, and Hepatitis B Vaccination
Successfully pass a background check
Hold a current Basic Life Support Certification
as well as several others
You will be required to complete 10 IV Sticks on a manniquin and 5 successful venipunctures must be performed on actual patients in a clinical environment. We have a clinical affiliation with Northglenn Ambulance Service in Northglenn, Colorado where we will assist you in scheduling your ride out on the ambulance in order to get your 5 sucessful actual patient IVs completed. There are 15 facilities to choose from in the Denver Area, Sky Ridge in Castle Rock and 2 facilities in Colorado Springs.
You will learn the following skills in this course:
1. Peripheral Intravenous Therapy
2. Intramuscular Injection
3. Intraosseous Needle Placement
4. Peripheral Intravenous Therapy with Blood Draw
5. Glucose Testing Diagnostic Interpretation – BloodGlucose
6. Dextrose Administration – Intravenous
7. Ondansetron – Intravenous
8. Ondansetron – Oral Dissolving Tablets
9. Narcan Administration – Intravenous
10. Narcan Administration – Atomized
11. Epinephrine 1:1,000 – Intramuscular injection
12. Albuterol – Nebulized (optional)
You will also be required to participate in each class, every day that it is scheduled. If you miss a day, you must wait until next month's class to make up the day that you were absent.
