Cheyenne Regional Medical Center to host its 17th annual "Wake Up to Heart Health"

Cheyenne Regional Medical Center will host its 17th annual “Wake Up to Heart Health” event on Feb. 7, offering the community an opportunity to learn about heart health, prevention and lifesaving response skills.

The event will take place from 9am to 1pm  at the Blue Community Events Center, 2401 E. Pershing Blvd., in Cheyenne. Registration is $25, with proceeds supporting the purchase of an automated external defibrillator for the community in partnership with Mended Hearts.

This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Anub John, an interventional cardiologist, who will discuss primary and secondary prevention, provide insight into cardiac arrest and highlight the critical role of CPR and early defibrillation.

“Cardiac arrest is often sudden and unexpected, and survival depends on immediate action,” John said. “When people know to call 9-1-1 and begin hands-only CPR, they become a vital link in the chain of survival and can save a life before emergency responders arrive.”

Attendees will also hear from a community member who will share a firsthand experience of performing CPR to save a life, along with a survivor story highlighting the importance of quick action during a cardiac emergency.

Participants will learn how to perform hands-only CPR and why calling 9-1-1 immediately is a critical first step when responding to a cardiac emergency. A continental breakfast and heart-healthy lunch will be provided.
