American Heart Association encourages CPR training during American Heart Month

American Heart Association encourages CPR training during American Heart Month
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the American Heart Association, and February is American Heart Month.

It’s a time when people are encouraged to focus on their cardiovascular health. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the U.S.

One person dies every 33 seconds in the U-S from cardiovascular disease. The American Heart Association is urging families to learn CPR during American Heart Month, which is February.

More than 350,000 people experience cardiac arrest outside of a hospital every year, and more than 70% occur in the home – meaning if you are called up on to perform CPR, it will most likely be on someone you love.

The American Heart Association is hosting several hands-only CPR demonstrations at businesses. Click HERE to learn more.

February 2nd is National Wear Red Day raising awareness about cardiovascular disease in women. The Heart of Cedar Rapids Heart Ball is February 3rd at The Hotel at Kirkwood Center. Click HERE for tickets.

There’s also a Go Red Game with the Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball team February 15th at Carver Hawkeye Arena.
