Zomato trains 4,300 delivery agents in CPR, sets world record
Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal recently captured the internet’s attention with a commendable feat with his food delivery app that aims to make a real difference in roadside emergencies. Imagine this: thousands of delivery agents trained to provide essential medical aid right when and where it’s needed the most.
That’s exactly what Zomato achieved with a CPR training session for about 4,300 delivery agents under professional guidance. This thoughtful initiative not only aims to provide crucial aid during emergencies but also led to Zomato breaking the Guinness World Record for the 'largest first aid lesson'.
Goyal took to social media to share this exciting news, accompanied by a few pictures from the session, which quickly went viral. The training session took place in Mumbai, and according to another post by Zomato, their delivery agents will now carry medical aids to assist in various situations.
The announcement was made on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), where Goyal's post was captioned: "Yesterday in Mumbai, we broke the Guinness World Records for the largest first aid lesson at a single venue, together with 4,300 delivery partners. Over 30,000 @zomato delivery partners are now professionally trained to provide medical aid and help during critical roadside emergencies. Salute and a big thank you to these Emergency Heroes of India." The post, shared on June 13, quickly gained 576 views.
The gesture has been widely supported on social media, with many users congratulating Zomato and Goyal for the record-breaking achievement. Some users also suggested additional measures that Zomato could implement to enhance the safety of its delivery agents. One user commented, "Congratulations! That's a very valuable gesture by Zomato. You must also consider some Driver education/training for your riders- for their safety and well-being, and also to improve your image with the public. Food delivery riders are considered risky drivers."
Another person added, "I hope they have accident insurance. I see so many Zomato & Swiggy riders come to the casualty at night with road traffic accidents (caused mostly by drunk drivers), Zomato must consider providing arm & knee guards to riders at a minimal price or as an incentive, it could save their lives."
The initiative by Zomato, led by Goyal, is seen as a significant step towards enhancing the safety and well-being of its delivery partners, while also setting a positive example for other companies in the industry.
