Pana teenager purchases life saving CPR gear for local firefighters and hospital
A teenager in Pana has just purchased some life-saving equipment and donated it to the local hospital and firehouse.
Aaron Moss, a member of Troop 99, has raised over $30,000 for his Eagle Scout project to fund the purchase of this life-saving gear. The device is called the Lucas 3 and can cost upwards of $20,000 each. When deployed, it performs continuous chest compressions on whoever it is attached to.
Aaron stated that one reason he chose this specific machine was its potential to positively impact the community.
"I thought it would help our community so much," said Aaron
"If you have to do CPR for a prolonged period of time, it can wear you out. So this device will help us, not only for the patient which comes first, but for the staff," said Greg Higer, the Pana Community Hospital's Director of Outpatient Service.
Jen and Roger Moss are extremely proud of their son for successfully fundraising enough money to donate equipment to the community.
"I feel like my son did an amazing job. He's an inspiration to all teenagers in this town. He's a good kid," said Jen.
