Painesville Township Fire Department offering hands-only CPR at event
The Painesville Township Fire Department invites the public to hands-only CPR training on Oct. 1 at Town Hall, 55 Nye Road.
Fire Chief Frank Huffman said that the training will only take around 15 minutes and will be available from 9 a.m. until noon.
Ahead of a training event in June, Lt. Brian Moore, a paramedic and EMS coordinator at the department, said that instructors would be available to teach hands-only CPR training and answer questions.
According to Moore, hands-only CPR is promoted by the American Heart Association to make more people feel comfortable doing CPR, which is used on patients suffering cardiac arrest. Hands-only CPR does not require mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and can help patients while they wait for medical professionals.
