Damar Hamlin joins 2026 Nation of Lifesavers Player Ambassador Class to promote CPR awareness

Damar Hamlin will be representing the Buffalo Bills for 2026 Nation of Lifesavers Player Ambassador Class.

Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin has been named to the American Heart Association and NFL's 2026 Nation of Lifesavers Player Ambassador Class.

The program brings together NFL players who will encourage fans to learn hands-only CPR and be prepared to respond to cardiac emergencies.

Hamlin, who suffered cardiac arrest during a game in January 2023, is returning as this year's ambassador for the Buffalo Bills. He will join other NFL players in promoting CPR education through public service announcements, social media and community initiatives.

"CPR gave me a second chance at life, and that is something I will never take for granted,” said Hamlin, who is a returning ambassador and original class member. “I’m here today with a purpose bigger than myself thanks to the people around me who knew what to do and were prepared to act. I’m proud to continue serving as an ambassador alongside the American Heart Association, the Buffalo Bills and the NFL, using my story to inspire more people to learn CPR because it has the power to save lives."

Fans attending Monday night's game between the Bills and Rams at SoFi Stadium can also take part in free hands-only CPR education during the pregame fan fest, where Hamlin and Rams wide receiver Jordan Whittington will highlight the importance of CPR readiness.

The NFL's partnership with the American Heart Association will ensure that all members of the NFL family can serve as lifesavers during medical emergencies,” said Anna Isaacson, the NFL's Senior Vice President of Social Responsibility. “We look forward to working with our Nation of Lifesaver Player Ambassadors to expand access to vital CPR training and education in communities across the country.”
