CPR used to save a life

CPR used to save a life
The Bristol Kendall Fire Protection District is recognizing the life-saving efforts to save someone who went into cardiac arrest last month.

The district says that the patient collapsed in front of Derek Johnson, who performed CPR until ambulance crews arrived and revived the patient, who was then taken to an area hospital for treatment. Also recognized were district firefighter/paramedics Brendan Ditchman, Tyler Ament, Nicholas Zych, Christine Valaski, Haylee Jackson, and Cadet Collin Blockinger. It happened at the district's board of trustees meeting Thursday.

The district says that Johnson's efforts and the training of its staff led to the survival of the patient.

The district notes that anyone could be put into a similar situation and mentions that it offers monthly CPR classes at Station 1, located on Beaver Street.
