Local police officers are being hailed as heroes for the CPR they performed that helped save a man's life.

“I reached over, looked at my wife, and said, 'Something’s not right,'" said Greg Adams.

Adams and his family were on their way to his grandson's basketball game when he knew something was wrong. He was having a heart attack and passed out behind the wheel while heading down I-275. Everyone in the car scrambled to get off the highway while performing CPR.

“I was doing CPR, and Sgt. Renner put his hand down, and it was like touching an angel's hand,” said Rhonda Gordon, Greg’s daughter-in-law.

Body camera video showed the moments they got to the scene and started running to the car. And Friday, five months later, Greg Adams got to say thank you to those heroes.

"Everyone here saved my life. Words aren’t enough. These are amazing people,” said Adams.

Adams said the doctor that has treated him in the days and weeks since has seen 10 patients in the same condition, and he’s the only one that survived.

“They had come out and told us he wasn’t going to make it,” said Gordon.

After 11 days in the hospital, Adams was released and is back to playing golf.

“I’m a living miracle. I’m a walking miracle,” said Adams. “I’m just going to enjoy life with my family and make new friends.”

Adams admitted that after the reunion, his family has now gotten a little bit bigger.

“In this world, there are a lot of things going on, and just to know that there are caring people in this world, I’m indebted to them forever,” said Adams.

The officers on scene that day are also big-time golfers. Plans are currently in the works for them to hit the course with Adams sometime soon.
