Bills: Damar Hamlin joins Carolina Panthers for CPR/AED training
The Buffalo Bills safety, Damar Hamlin, continues his remarkable story. Bringing awareness to the importance of CPR and AEDs in an impactful way.
The Buffalo Bills safety, Damar Hamlin, continues to defy the odds.
In a few weeks, Hamlin has further cemented his already impressive legacy. From going to Capitol Hill to advocate for AEDs in high schools, meeting the president, and starting his own initiative with the Red Cross, he's been a busy man.
Damar Hamlin suffered a reported cardiac arrest in which he needed to be resuscitated on the field. Heroes need to be remembered which is why any time we discuss his story, we want to point out the heroes who were on the field that day who helped Hamlin survive. Some quick thinking from both Bills and Bengals athletic trainers and the first responders on the scene that day were instrumental in his recovery and survival. More specifically, Bills assistant athletic trainer Denny Kellington was the one who performed CPR on the field.
Now, Hamlin has completed another chapter in his already inspiring story. After getting permission from the Bills, Hamlin went to visit Carolina to aid in some CPR training.
As reported by the Carolina Panthers, Tepper Sports and Entertainment teamed up with the American Heart Association to host CPR/AED training and education courses at the Atrium Health Dome. Hamlin joined some Carolina Panthers players during the event. Additionally, Hamlin gave a powerful speech after working with the team to bring awareness to the importance of CPR and AED education while talking about his journey.
Hamlin, while working on a comeback to the NFL, wants to use his platform for good and to inspire change. Some things are bigger than sports and it appears the traumatic incident has given him a new lease on life and a new vision for the future. "This is an expected life mission for me, but I'm all in."
The journey back to the NFL will be difficult, but we have all the faith in the world we will see Damar Hamlin suited back up on gamedays once again.
Once that happens, the Bills Mafia is going to lose it. We can't wait.
