American Heart Association recommends BTS's 'Body to Body' for CPR
The American Heart Association (AHA) has recommended BTS’s new album “Arirang” track “Body to Body” as suitable music for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The song has a tempo of approximately 120 beats per minute (BPM), similar to the chest compression rate recommended during CPR. Experts recommend maintaining a chest compression rate of 100 to 120 times per minute during CPR. The association explained, “Maintaining a consistent rhythm is crucial, so compressing in time with music can also be helpful.” Other songs with similar tempos include BTS’s “Dynamite,” Wonder Girls’ “Tell Me,” and Kim Yeon-ja’s “Amor Fati.”
“Body to Body,” the first track of this album, opens the new album, with a portion of the melody of Korea’s representative folk song “Arirang” incorporated at the end of the song. It has been praised for blending traditional sentiments with modern sound in BTS’s unique style.
A TikTok challenge using the album’s track “Hooligan” is also spreading. The challenge, which started among the fandom “ARMY,” quickly became a global trend as users from various countries participated immediately after its release.
The fifth studio album “Arirang” set a new record for the group by selling nearly 4 million copies on the day of its release. According to the agency Big Hit Music on the 21st, BTS’s fifth studio album, released at 1 p.m. the previous day, sold 3.98 million copies on the day of its release.
The new album topped the iTunes “Top Albums” chart in 88 countries and regions worldwide, including Italy, Mexico, and Sweden. The title track “SWIM” also reached number one on the iTunes “Top Songs” chart in 90 countries and regions, including the U.S., Japan, the U.K., Germany, and France, as of 9 a.m. on the 21st, with many of the album’s tracks also ranking high on the charts.
