How to Become an AHA Instructor

Get started today!

The American Heart Association is always seeking professionals to conduct training in first aid, CPR, AED, and advanced cardiovascular care. If you are passionate about saving lives, motivated to facilitate learning, feel comfortable in group settings, and find it easy to make complex concepts understandable to others, you may be a perfect candidate.

Becoming an American Heart Association instructor is easy after consulting with an American Heart Association Training Center to find out whether the Training Center (TC) is accepting new instructors.

Follow this Basic Overview to Become an AHA Instructor

You must have a current AHA provider card in the discipline you are interested in instructing to complete the below steps.

  1. Go to Atlas.heart.org(link opens in new window) to find a TC near you to ask if they are accepting new instructor candidates. The TC will provide guidance on the steps you need to complete including required paperwork.
  2. Successfully complete the online portion, the in-person portion, and the monitoring portion of the Instructor course.
  3. Once you have completed the steps above and have been issued your Instructor eCard you will need to align with your TC/TS in Atlas.

As an Instructor, you will have access to the most current emergency cardiovascular care science, course updates, training resources and tools through atlas.heart.org(link opens in new window).
