What's for dinner every single day - Solved!
This is the most dreadded things about growing up and becoming an adult. "What's for dinner? What's for dinner? What's for dinner? EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!!
Solved!
You can print a blank calendar online or just use microsoft word.
First of all, you have to pick something for dinner, for tomorrow.
Put tomorrow's dinner on your list or in your calendar square. Then pick a random day for next month, and the month after and add it to that date... like this..
Wednesday May 21, 2025 Orange Chicken with rice and Wantons
Saturday June 11, 2025 Orange Chicken with rice and Wantons
Monday July 14, 2025 Orange Chicken with rice and Wantons
Continue for at least the next two weeks. This makes dinner so much easier!
You can see what you will be needing ingredients for, for the next few days and pick it up all at once at the store. OMG!!!!!!! SO MUCH EASIER!!!!
You have to set the rules, and no matter what, don't change the meals around once you have your two weeks worth, unless it's an emergency! If you do, this is never going to work for you.
If you know a few days from now, that you are not going to have time to cook dinner, you can put something in the slow cooker and it will be ready when you get home... or you can put a take out place on your list and grab dinner on the way home or even cook your dinner the day before and just warm it up.
When making my list, I make sure that if one day is chicken, the next is beef, the next day maybe pork and then next fish. That way I don't end up with 6 days in a row of chicken for dinner.
You can also make an emergency substitution list, in case you didn't get ingredients you needed, or something happened that you don't have time to cook a big dinner. You can get a frozen lasagna, or pizza and put it in the oven while you take care of other things. Giant ridiculous salads are great when it's hot and our favorite is bacon, lettuce and tomatoe sandwiches with watermelon.
Check the weather for the next two weeks when making your list. You don't want a hot soup on a day it's 90 degrees outside, and you don't want cold sandwiches and fruit on a day it's going to be snowing.
You can also make an excel spreadsheet and make a monthly calendar. Then you can copy and paste the squares to the next month, or two months from now, or duplicate the same one three of four months from now.
I have several saved if you want to email me, I'll send them to you. admin@savingamericanhearts.com
I know this is going to be a life saver!!!!
