Residents raise £1,500 to buy defib - then get training in how to use it!
FREE first aid training was given to residents and staff at The Sailings Retirement Living in Southport.
It was after more than £1,500 was raised by the residents to buy a new defibrillator for the facility.
The owners Peter Dalton and Colin Redwood got in touch with North West Ambulance Service to ask about training and they passed on the details of Southport Community First Response Team leader Jonathan Cunningham, who delivered free CPR and defibrillation training.
Jonathan said: “I was delighted to be able to assist. I was so impressed with the residents collective fund raising. Simple first aid and ready access to a defibrillator make a significant improvement in survival rates to those who may have suffered a cardiac episode. Southport CFR team is here to assist all community groups and is always happy to provide defibrillation and CPR training in the community.”
