Red Cross to honor Portland man who saved coworker with CPR
After KPMG Manager Deanna Premo lost consciousness at work, she wasn’t expected to survive. But her coworker Ryan Hover performed CPR for five minutes, and ultimately saved her life.
The American Red Cross Cascades Region will honor Hovoer for his lifesaving efforts on Aug. 13 at the Wells Fargo Center in Portland.
Premo, who now wears a pacemaker, will also provide an update on how she’s doing.
“I have made an amazing recovery, and I would not have survived this ordeal without Ryan Hover’s quick action and sustained CPR,” Premo said.
During the presentation, Hover will receive the Red Cross Certificate of Extraordinary Personal Action. The event begins at 10 a.m. and will take place in the Wells Fargo Center, 1300 SW Fifth Ave. Ste. 3800, where the original incident occurred.
The American Red Cross provides online and in-person classes to train people how to respond in an emergency. To find a class, visit redcross.org/takeaclass. To nominate someone who has used skills learned in an American Red Cross Training to help save a life, visit LifesavingAwards.org.
