New tech to treat heart arrhythmias at Memorial Hospital
Memorial Health System is offering a new way to help patients suffering from a-fib.
The Tacti-Flex Catheter is the world’s first ablation catheter.
Memorial is the first to use this technology on the Coast for treating patients with heart arrhythmias.
Its designed with a unique flexible electrode tip and contact force sensing to treat patients with atrial a-fib. Patients receiving cardiac ablation therapy has grown worldwide and the new technology adds accuracy and precision to procedures.
Cardiac Electrophysiologist Dr. B. Judson Colley tells us how the new procedure will assist patients on the coast. “But when we’re done with these ablation procedures, is interrupting atrial fibrillation more prominently. So instead of taking a medicine long term, we’re able to offer these ablation procedures that basically you’re interrupting the mechanism and hopefully allows the heart to stay in normal rhythm and not requiring a medicine may be your normal heart rhythm is restored with this ablation procedure. Patients get their quality of life back.”
If you or someone you know wants to learn more about the procedure talk to your cardiologist or primary care physician.
