Huguley Fire supports Hantal Alabama with AEDs, safety training

Huguley Fire Department donated two AEDs to Hantal Alabama in Cusseta and provided CPR, first aid and fire safety training for employees.

The Huguley Fire Department (HFD) recently donated two AED (Automated External Defibrillator) machines to Hantal Alabama in Cusseta. Hantal Alabama specializes in e-coating and parts packaging for car manufacturers and automotive suppliers. HFD donated the first AED on Feb. 17, 2026, and the second was donated on Sept. 3, 2026.

AEDs are medical devices used for sudden cardiac arrest. The devices can analyze the heart’s rhythm, and when needed, deliver an electrical shock (defibrillation) to help the heart get back to normal rhythm. Christi Sutton, human resource manager at Hantal Alabama, says having those AEDs on-site dramatically strengthens their emergency readiness.

“Combined with CPR and first aid training provided by the Huguley Fire Department, our employees now have both the practical skills and the life-saving tools needed to respond instantly during a cardiac or medical emergency,” Sutton shared. “It gives our entire team peace of mind knowing we are equipped to protect one another until first responders arrive.”

Sutton notes how training from the fire department has come in handy on the job. “During a live fire that happened in a parking lot the employees responded quickly and had the training and knowledge to get the fire extinguishers and start putting out the fire. Our team showed excellent communications skills and worked together to contain it until the fire department arrived. They were awarded a heroic action award,” she said.

Sutton says the partnership with the HFD has been “exceptionally and truly collaborative.” The firefighters work together with Hantal Alabama on many key events and training efforts. The donation of the AEDs is just another way the HFD has helped Hantal Alabama keep their employees safe.

“Beyond donating AEDs, they assist us with simulated fire drills, host our team for hands-on CPR and first aid training, participate in our annual Health & Safety Fair, join us for various other special events and educate our workforce on home fire safety while donating smoke detectors,” Sutton said.
