Free CPR, Narcan training, herbal medical clinic Aug. 23
The Town of Taos Office of Emergency Management, BardoWright Ltd. Co., Taos Alive and the Herbal Medics Academy/Human Path School invite the public to a day of free health and safety services Saturday (Aug. 23) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Taos Civic Center, 120 Civic Plaza Drive.
This event continues the life-saving training series initiated in May by Town of Taos Councilor Genevieve Oswald, with support from UNM-Taos and the LOR Foundation.
Life-Saving Skills Training
10 a.m. – Noon: Free adult hands-only CPR training led by David Elliot, principal emergency manager for Resilience Emergency Management. Participants will learn adult hands-only CPR, defibrillator use and choking response. Certificates of participation will be provided.
1–3 p.m.: Harm reduction and Narcan training with Miles Bonny of Taos Alive, followed by first aid training and hands-on demonstrations with David Elliot. Free Naloxone kits available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Free Herbal Medicine Clinic
10 a.m. – 3 p.m.:The Herbal Medics Academy will host a back-to-school free community clinic focused on preventative care using herbal medicine as the 2025 public school season begins. Experienced herbal clinicians will assist community members in preparing for the back to school season with natural, herbal approaches to wellness.
North Central New Mexico continues to face significant health challenges. Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the state, while fentanyl-related overdoses have surged dramatically. This comprehensive community health event aims to empower residents with both emergency response skills and preventative care options.
All services are free and open to the public. No registration required.
