Events including Montgomery County Heart Walk in The Woodlands raise $2M for heart health
The American Heart Association’s Montgomery County Heart Walk 2022 took place Nov. 12 at Northshore Park in The Woodlands, one of four such walks occurring in the Greater Houston area in November, raising a total of $2 million for the organization, according to an AHA news release.

Other walks included the Kemah Boardwalk, the University of Houston campus in central Houston and Lone Star College's University Park campus.

“I'm so proud of our intrepid, enthusiastic walkers who proved their commitment to improving their own health, and the funds they raised proved their commitment to our community’s health as well,” said Mel Edwards, AHA’s senior vice president and executive director for Greater Houston, in a news release. “Not even rain and near-freezing temperatures can dim Houstonians’ spirits or dilute their dedication.”

The event included music, a children's zone, CPR training and local medical professionals providing health tips.

Funds raised by the walks go toward research, advocacy, CPR training and other efforts, according to the AHA.
