Electrocuted construction worker resuscitated in Haverford

A 41-year-old construction worker was successfully resuscitated Wednesday after being electrocuted on a Haverford construction site.

Haverford Police Chief John Viola said the call came in at 2:28 p.m. for an electrocution with CPR in progress at a property on the 300 block of Exeter Road off of Golf House Road.

Police and paramedics from Narberth Ambulance arrived and found co-workers doing CPR. Police and medics took over and advanced medical treatment defibrillation by medics restarted the victim’s heart.

Viola said the man was conscious in the ambulance and taken to Lankenau Trauma Center for further care.

Viola said workers were using an extended forklift truck to raise steel beams, which were suspended from cables.

As the beams were raised, workers on the ground steadied the beams to keep them from spinning but the top of the forklift struck 13,200-volt power lines, sending current down the equipment.

A second worker was not injured.
