Chino mother thanks doctors, nurses a year after her heart attack
How do you mend a broken heart?
Ask Chino resident Shannon Hutchens.
She’ll point to a medical team at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center that did just that for her.
About a year ago, she was rushed to the hospital after a heart attack.
Last week, Hutchens, 55, went back to the medical center — to thank those that treated her.
On Thursday, July 16, she and husband Mike Hutchens reunited with doctors, nurses and others. They shared hugs and conversation.
It was July 14, 2025, when she woke up with back and chest pain, a news release states. She figured it was the ulcerative colitis and fibromyalgia with which she had been diagnosed.
Then Mike Hutchens found her unresponsive and lying on the bathroom floor.
Shannon’s daughter Jade Hutchens performed CPR until paramedics arrived, the release states.
Shannon spent about 20 days in the hospital before going home to lead a healthy life.
She’s now “walking up to 15,000 steps a day and is back to cooking, this time heart-healthy foods,” according to the release.
