American Heart Association hosts Peninsula Heart Walk to boost CPR awareness
Did you know nine out of ten people who suffer cardiac arrest outside of the hospital die? That is why the American Heart Association is broadening efforts to drive CPR education, awareness and community initiatives through the Heart Walk.

The association and more than 1,700 community members will walk at the Peninsula Heart Walk on Saturday.

Through fundraising, community education and corporate engagement, the Heart Walk aims to enhance CPR training accessibility, strengthen bystander readiness, increase funding for vital research, and save and improve lives from the number one killer in Hampton Roads, cardiovascular diseases.

Additionally, the Heart Walk will honor heart and stroke survivors by providing a survivor lane to walk through during the 1-mile or 3-mile route, red caps for heart survivors, white caps for stroke survivors, engaging attendees with a tribute tree, offering massages and more.

This year’s Heart Walk provides a Centennial Club tent for walkers who raise $100 or more. The tent will include lounge seating, refreshments, snacks, giveaways and more.

The Peninsula Heart Walk will take place on Nov. 2 from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Fort Monroe’s Outlook Beach
