Run home furnace on a car battery for days. Please spread the word to all your family and loved ones!

Keeping the furnace on without electricity changes everything! So, if you do have a generator, you can use that for cooking and other things. This is life changing!

I watched a video on you tube and this guy shows exactly how to run your home furnace with a car battery for a few days. You will need to buy an inverter and a special cord, but I just ordered them on Amazon and the inverter was about $46 and the cord $3.87 so for less than one hundred dollars, you can get both.

Here's the link to the YouTube video:

How To Keep Your Home Warm During A Power Outage | Car Battery

https://youtu.be/gVrPggDgWGg The DIY HVAC Guy The video is just under 8 minutes long.

I will update this blog post after I get the inverter and try it out.

This is what I got at Amazon:  The video had a Jupiter Brand Inverter, but it was about $109 and I found this one with the same voltage as the one in the video.

My daughter lives in Texas where the power grid is horrible, so I sent this to her, and she's going out today to Home Depot and a few places to just go buy one. She was there last year, without heat and power through the ice storm and was using the barbeque grill outside her bedroom window so they could cook hot meals. Her electricity was out for over a week, and there was nothing I could do to help her. The city was shut down, no one could leave their house, and all the stores were closed. They couldn't even leave their house to go buy a generator.

This morning, December 22, 2022 in Colorado, our regular temperature was 19 degrees below zero and the wind chill was 35 below zero. We did end up putting duct tape around the back door, and covering all the windows in the garage with a painter's tarp and duct tape. We survived, and the house is nice and warm. This time around, the electricity stayed on, and the heater turned on and then off, and can back on before I could count to three. After we taped everything it made a huge difference in the temperature in the house and the heater stayed off longer because the house stayed warmer longer with all the drafts stopped.
