Please note, you are now required to take a 4 hour precourse test and watch the course videos online before attending the class. Take a picture of your certificate or bring it with you to class. Class will focus on the hands on teaching and testing portion of the class. The precourse work takes a solid 4 hours. Once you begin the first section of the online course, you must complete it in one sitting. The second portion includes all the course videos and can be broken up into 20 pieces if necessary. Pediatric Advanced Life Support is a classroom, Instructor-led course that uses a series of videos and simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation, and team dynamics.

The goal of the PALS Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes. PALS also teaches Pediatric CPR, the use of a bag mask and an AED for 1 and 2 rescuers. Students will practice skills along with the video, participate in megacode practice scenarios, take a written exam of 50 questions with a passing score of 84%. Participants will then be tested on one cardiac scenario and one respiratory or a shock scenario. Students who successfully pass the course will receive an American Heart Association PALS Provider E-Card good for two years. (The New 2020 Provider Manual and FREE BLS are included in the cost of the class.

PALS Provider Course

The AHA’s PALS Course has been updated to reflect new science in the 2020 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC.   • High-quality Child CPR AED and Infant CPR
  • Recognition of patients who do and do not require immediate intervention
  • Recognition of cardiopulmonary arrest early and application of CPR within 10 seconds
  • Apply team dynamics
  • Differentiation between respiratory distress and failure
  • Early interventions for respiratory distress and failure
  • Differentiation between compensated and decompensated (hypotensive) shock
  • Early interventions for the treatment of shock
  • Differentiation between unstable and stable patients with arrhythmias
  • Clinical characteristics of instability in patients with arrhythmias
  • Post–cardiac arrest management.
