Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers or BLS is a classroom course created by the American Heart Association, that awards a 2 year BLS certification for those who work in healthcare, or are attending nursing school. In the class, Adult, Child and Infant CPR is taught. Students will watch videos and then perform hands on practice. At the end of the class a written exam will be given with a passing score of 84%. Students will then be tested by performing the skills they have learned. They will be tested on three scenarios. Testing will consist of an adult, child and an infant needing 1 and 2 rescuer CPR, the use of a bag mask and an AED.
