Welcome to the 12 EKG and Basic Heart Rhythm Course!

This course is not included in the bundle package as I have oursourced it to be able to provide this course to local students. All proceeds for this course goes directly to the instructor.

Course Description:
This class is a basic 12 lead ECG interpretation class and takes your ECG interpretation skills to a higher level. More advanced content includes recognition of fascicular blocks, bifascicular blocks, and trifascicular blocks and the potential dangers associated with them; ECG signs of atrial and ventricular chamber enlargement; ECG effects of drugs and electrolyte disorders, especially hypo and hyperkalemia, hypo and hypercalcemia; and myocardial infarction mimics, such as left bundle branch block, ventricular paced rhythms, pericarditis, acute cor pulmonale, and Brugada Syndrome. Practice tracings are used to present content and allow interactive participation of learners.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

  1. Recognize signs of left anterior fascicular block, left posterior fascicular block, bifascicular blocks, and trifascicular blocks on the 12 lead ECG.
  2. Differentiate between right and left atrial enlargement, and right and left ventricular hypertrophy.
  3. Recognize ECG changes that could indicate drug effect or electrolyte imbalances.
  4. Differentiate ECG changes due to myocardial injury and infarction from conditions that can mimic injury and infarction, such as left bundle branch block, ventricular paced rhythm, pericarditis, early repolarization, acute cor pulmonale, and Brugada Syndrome.

Intended Audience

  • This course is intended for healthcare providers and students (EMS to in-hospital providers) who need to understand 12-lead ECGs and improve his/her STEMI recognition and assessment skills to identify potential STEMI patients.
  • Critical Care, Emergency Department and Pre-Hospital Care Providers
  • Students, LVN’s, RN’s, EMT’S,  and other Healthcare Professionals: This course is an excellent opportunity to refine and refresh your skills before taking an ACLS or PALS Course.
